Alexis Iwaasa defeated in Quarter Finals

IRF World Junior Racquetball Championships 16 year old Alexis Iwaasa returned home Sunday night after a week long tournament at the International Racquetball World Junior Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Alexis competed in the U16 pool play and was undefeated against Korea, Mexico, and Ecuador. She did not lose a game in the entire pool play round. In the elimination round, she defeated Frances Vazquez from Puerto Rico and advanced to the quarter finals against a tough Bolivian girl, Wanda Carvajal. Alexis struggled early in the first game and lost 15-7. In the second game, the Bolivian girl continued to dominate the rallies and won 15-8 which ultimately ended Alexis's bid for medal. The overall experience was positive and Alexis was proud to be part of the Canadian Junior Team. She will continue to work on improving her skills as she prepares for the Canada Select Event in Montreal next weekend. http://www.internationalracquetball.com
